Summary: The Enterprise comes across a shuttlecraft taken from Starbase 4 on their way to the planet, Arianis. The alien piloting the shuttlecraft is completely white on one side of his body and completely black on the other. The alien claims that he is a political refugee and wishes asylum. Shortly thereafter, another alien much like the first (except he is white and black on opposite sides) arrives and demands that first alien be handed over to him.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

CONT: Captain Kirk calls a red alert, but a few seconds later, when Bele appears, the alert cannot be heard in the bridge scene. After the commercial fade out, when the scene reappears on the screen, the red alert can be heard again.
FAKE: Although the shuttlecraft is stolen from Starbase 4, it's side clearly reads: "U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701/7". (This is due to the archive footage reused from "The Galileo Seven").
CREW: A large string/wire is clearing visible supporting the shuttle model as it enters the Enterprise hanger bay.
CONT: Chekov reports that Bele's ship is "out there" while at his station at the helm. When the camera shot from behind the helm shows Kirk and crew looking at the display screen appears, Chekov is not at the helm, but rather Hadley. When they cut back to a shot from the front angle as before to show the crew's faces, Chekov is back in his seat.

TRIVIA

During the filming of Frank Gorshin and Lou Antonio's run sequences, Gorshin and Antonio collided with one another when neither actor knew the other was striding down opposite ends of the corridor. The camera crew hadn't warned them that their scenes were being shot simultaneously.
First and only episode in the three seasons of "Star Trek" to show a sideways, in-alcove shot of the transporter chamber. When Commissioner Beele (Frank Gorshin) and Lokai (Lou Antonio) beam down to Charon.
Every time there is a "red alert", the camera quickly and repeatedly zooms in and out of a shot of the one of the many flashing, red warning lights which indicate the red alert. This camera effect, no doubt used to generate some interest in the episode, was only used in this episode.
Archive stock footage of World War II-era London, England burning was shown, superimposed on the fleeing scenes of Lokai and Beele.
