MISTAKES/GOOFS

• FACT: Much of the general equipment on the ship operates at normal rate for Kirk (whilst accelerated), examples are the doors opening, the flashing lights on the transporter desk. It is also unlikely that the voice recorder would operate at a high enough frequency to be able to record the messages from the earlier crew.
• CONT: When Kirk makes a tape to inform the crew in sick bay, he places the tape in the upper slot of the two slots next to McCoy and Spock. When we go back to real time the yellow tape cassette in now in the lower slot. When McCoy sees the mysterious tape later in the control panel he grabs it from the lower slot.
• FACT: SPOILER: Crewman Compton, Captain Kirk, and Mr. Spock are all accelerated into the Scalosians' plane of existence by ingesting Scalosian water, which, according to the story, changes and "speeds up" their molecular structure, causing them to "disappear" in our dimension. If this is the case, why do their clothes, boots, phasers, etc., "speed up" as well? The effects of the water (a biological agent) shouldn't affect what they are wearing and carrying (as a transporter beam does). Realistically, then, Compton, Kirk, and Spock should have disappeared out of their clothes in our dimension and arrived in the Scalosian's dimension "in the buff".
• CONT: At the beginning of the episode we see stock footage of Chekov although he does not appear in the rest of the episode.
• CONT: When Captain Kirk first becomes "sped up" on the bridge of the Enterprise, he fires his phaser at Deela and the beam moves slowly along. The rest of the bridge crew would have seen the phaser blast at normal speed. But viewers never saw when they eventually see it and react to it.
