MISTAKES/GOOFS
- FAKE: Obvious Stunt Doubles for William Shatner (Kirk) and Leonard Nimoy (Spock) in the fight scenes.
- CREW: Look at the scene where Dr. McCoy uses a hypo to gain entrance to Engineering for Scotty and himself. When the door first opens, the shoulder of the set crew can be seen briefly behind the actors.
- CONT: In beginning scene when Kirk and the others first beam back up to the Enterprise, Kirk signals the ship to engage, then puts his communicator away and puts his hands down by his side. As they first appear in the transporter pad aboard the ship, he has his communicator still in his hand, held up to his mouth. During the original series, movement during transport was not possible.
- FAKE: Poorly-placed camera angles reveal the fight sequence choreography between Kirk and the "mirror" Spock. On more than one occasion, very noticeable gaps are visible as they fight.
TRIVIA
- The title refers to the summoning of the mirror spirit by the Wicked Queen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: "Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?"
- The Mirror Universe was the subject of a Star Trek graphic novel in 1991, written by Mike W. Barr, and published by DC Comics.
- In the "South Park" episode "Spooky Fish," the boys from the "evil" parallel universe all have beards like that of the Empire's Mr. Spock.
- The Mirror Universe plot line was revisited again several times in "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (1993) and in "Enterprise" (2001) in the following episodes: - Crossover (DS9 #2.23) - Through the Looking Glass (DS9 #3.19) - Shattered Mirror (DS9 #4.19) - Resurrection (DS9 #6.08) - The Emperor's New Cloak (DS9 #7.12) - In A Mirror Darkly, Part I (ENT #4.18) - In A Mirror Darkly, Part II (ENT #4.19)
- "Shore Leave" is the only episode in which the U.S.S. Enterprise is seen orbiting a planet from right to left. The I.S.S. Enterprise also does this briefly in the parallel universe, in the teaser to "Mirror, Mirror", but by the beginning of Act I, it is again orbiting from left to right.
