Summary: An important spelling bee is coming up, and Cartman's mother tries to prepare him by purchasing "Hooked on Monkey Fonics." During the spelling bee, the boys meet Mark and Rebecca, two local home-schooled children who clearly lack social skills. Mark wants to give public school a try, but learns that sometimes other children aren't so nice, and Kyle develops a crush on Rebecca.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

FACT: Ronnie James Dio never considered the band Dio as a solo project (he said that Dio just seemed like a good band name at the time), but in the episode, he calls the album "Holy Diver" the first of his solo career.
FACT: Rebecca is asked to spell the word "littoral" at the spelling bee. Though she spelled it incorrectly, leaving out the second "t", the mayor claims she was correct.

TRIVIA

This is the first episode to feature one of the South Park kids (Cartman) without their hats.
This is the last episode with Mary Kay Bergman.
Kyle's conversation with Rebecca in her father's garden is a parody of the conversation between Kirk and Shahna in the Star Trek episode _"Star Trek" The Gamesters of Triskelion (1968)_ (#2.16).
