Episode 02 - Brian Austin Green, who portrays Metallo, was recently on "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" (2008), where he fought Terminators. In this episode, Lois Lane refers to him as "a real-life Terminator".
Episode 05 - Clark's reference to an "anti-life equation" refers to DC Comics' character Darkseid, a major enemy of Superman's who seeks the Anti-Life Equation, a key to universal domination and subversion of the will.
