Summary: Perry White, a once- promising journalist whose career was destroyed by Lionel Luthor, arrives in Smallville in search of alien stories for a tabloid news show. In spite of being constantly inebriated, Perry believes he has witnessed Clark using his extraordinary speed, so he devises a dangerous scheme to expose Clark's superpowers. Meanwhile, Lex learns that Perry has powerful incriminating evidence of Lionel's shady past...

MISTAKES/GOOFS

FAKE: In the beginning of the episode, Clark leaves for the Talon to meet with Pete. He is offered a ride by his mother, but says he'll run there instead. As he closes the door behind him, we hear the sound of him taking off in super-speed, but we can still see him through the glass in the door moving down the stairs in normal speed.
SYNC: When Clark is on his way to go to school Clark's parents asked him if he needs a ride to school and then he says "no, I think I run," you hear the sound of him running away in Superspeed, but if you look in the window on the kitchen door you see him walking.

TRIVIA

The sheriff snaps, "And Don't call me Chief!" at Perry White. This is a reference to Perry White constantly yelling "Don't call me Chief" at Jimmy Olsen in all the other Superman television shows, cartoons, and movies.
In an incredible coincidence, the episode "Perry", which dealt with a large solar flare affecting Clark's powers, first aired in the US on the same day that the largest solar flare in over 100 years struck the Earth, 29 October 2003.
