As the Sliders are walking along the beach after exiting the portal, John Rhys-Davies says, "I don't know about Paradise, but I was in a place called Eden once, in Tunisia in North Africa. Nasty fly-infested place". This is an obvious reference to the time he spent in Tunisia working on the film Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981).

The title is based upon the epic poem by the 17th-century English poet John Milton (II) which was the subject of the English class lecture in Animal House (1978) given by Donald Sutherland (I).
