At the beginning of the episode, Cassie is reading out loud from a book entitled 'The Edible Woman', one of Margaret Atwood's early novels. It is a novel about anorexia, body issues, and women who think that they are unattractive. All three of these issues are also central themes in Cassie's story throughout the entire series.
