- According to the creator, She-Ra's name was taken from the Egyptian word for god, "Ra", so that her name would be She-god.
- She-Ra's skirt never moves, despite her acrobatic tendencies. Female directors and animators on the show insisted upon this because they found it inappropriate for the lead character's skirt to fly up on a children's television show.
- When Mattel first designed the She-Ra Storyline, Catra was going to be She-Ra's main enemy instead of Hordak. Her main sidekicks were going to be Entrapta and Castaspella-yes,Castaspella was going to be evil! Her base was called CatTower, but when the cartoon was made, Filmation changed the story.
- She-Ra was originally to be He-Man's girlfriend but since Adam and Adora were brother and sister, Filmation decided it would be better, if She-Ra were He-Man's sister instead.
- During his first scene at the inn, Dylamug is voiced by George DiCenzo. When he confronts Darius on the street, the voice is provided by Lou Scheimer (credited as Erik Gunden). In all subsequent scenes are Dylamug is voiced by DiCenzo again.
- Snout Spout from Mattel's Masters of the Universe toy line makes his first brief appearance. He has no lines and is called by his original concept name, 'Hose Nose'.
- The character of Acrobad was based on a toy prototype by Mattel that never made it into production. Another character, Colonel Blast, did become an action figure after being redesigned to be a cowboy-themed good guy called Rio Blast.
