Summary: George continues to convince the unemployment office that he's getting a job. Jerry and Kramer go to visit a former neighbor and her baby. Elaine breaks up with Keith after discovering he smokes and Jerry breaks up with him as well. Also, George tries to make good on his plans to sleep with a really tall woman.

Elaine breaks up with Hernandez because he smokes. In real-life, Hernandez eventually quit smoking, and began doing anti-smoking public service announcements.
This originally aired as an hour-long episode. The script timed out at forty-five minutes but Seinfeld and Larry David did not want to cut it any of it. So they asked NBC's permission to do a one hour episode.
In the original filmed ending, George thanks the tall woman for finding his wallet, then shows her the door.
According to Keith Hernandez, Darryl Strawberry was originally supposed to play the "Second Spitter", but due to Strawberry's then-recent drug problems, he was replaced.
This episode was originally titled "The New Friend." When this episode was rerun on NBC, Seinfeld appeared in an introductory segment calling it "The New Friend" as well as his favorite episode at the time.
