Trivia Facts | Top Quotes | Goofs/Mistakes
  • Goof (incorrectly regarded as a mistake): The x-ray with the show's title shown in the beginning is turned the wrong way: the heart should be seen on the right hand side. This was an intentional mistake put in by creator Bill Lawrence to represent the core idea of the show: young doctors in over their heads. Bill Lawrence reminds viewers that this goof was completely intentional in interviews, DVD commentaries, and virtually any other available opportunity.
  • Goof (continuity error): Cox wheels a "dead lady" around and her glasses continually disappear and reappear between shots.
  • Goof (miscellaneous): In some scenes there are pieces of hair/thread visible on the camera, mainly on the bottom of the screen.
  • Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Dr. Kelso tells JD to keep a female patient on dialysis, and not put her on the transplant list, because she doesn't have insurance. In the U.S., all patients who have kidney failure and are on dialysis are eligible for Medicare, which also pays for a kidney transplant.
  • Goof (revealing mistake): When Dr. Cox asks the young boy to do a urine sample for him, the cup he passes him is already filled when the boy takes it into the cubicle.
  • Goof (revealing mistake): When J.D. goes to visit Dr. Cox at his house, the shot outside his door reveals that the shooting location is actually the hallway of the converted hospital.
  • Goof (revealing mistake): In the shot where Elliot asks the nurse for a chart after which she turns to Dr.Kelso for some advice, you can see that the papers on her chart are of storyboards.
  • Goof (continuity error): After JD finds out that he was the one to have given Mr Bidwell Insulin, Turk walks in to the room wearing green slippers, but later in the same scene when JD runs out and Turk yells "Did Nurse Roberts give you these? They focus on his shoes which are now black/brown bowling shoes.
  • Goof (boom mic visible): Within the first wide shot of after the opening credits, with J.D. and Elliot standing by a patient's bed at night, the boom is in shot at the very top of the frame, dipping in and out; the white gaff tape marking the microphone's windscreen comes into view.
  • Goof (incorrectly regarded as a mistake): When Elliot and Dr. Cox are talking in the break room for the second time, and Dr. Cox is talking about whiny interns coming to him for cookies and hugs, he mouths, "I swear to Allah" but the audio says, "I swear to Aisha." As this episode was probably filmed before the September 11th Attacks, the line was no doubt over-dubbed out of sensitivity to the political tensions of the time.
  • Goof (factual errors): When Turk describes "The Catch" to his patient, he claims it was made with "zero time left" when "The Catch" was actually made with 58 seconds remaining in the game.
  • Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Turk tells his patient he's going to take his fruit cup, he actually takes his patients Jello-O cup, you can see there is a fruit cup in the patient's tray as well.

When J.D. rewinds time and the scene replays, she says "*the* barrio," even though every other line (inlcuding J.D.'s sentence that he intended not to say) is identical to what it was the first time.
  • Goof (continuity error): When Turk and Carla are buying food in the cafeteria, Turk shakes a piece of meat at then puts some mashed potatoes on his plate. When he then walks next to Elliot, only a piece of cake and milk are visible on his tray.

  • Goof (factual errors): When J.D. is in the MRI room, the MRI is supposedly on, but it's not making any noise at all, and he's still wearing his pager, stethoscope, watch, etc. In actual fact, a doctor would not take any metal objects into a room with an MRI scanner.
  • Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Alex (MRI Girl) gets scared, she grabs J.D.'s hand and says that she is checking for a wedding ring. However, she checks his right hand, whereas wedding rings are always on the left hand. Also, regardless of that, anybody who comes near an MRI has to take off all jewelry and any other metallic objects.
  • Goof (factual errors): SPOILER: Dr. Cox and Elliot are the only two people in the room performing CPR and defibrillation on the patient at the end. During a code, there are always many more people in the room -- a proper code requires at least 6 people (a team leader, one person managing the airway, one person performing chest compressions, one person performing defibrillation, one person pushing medications, and one person recording all events).

Thomas Howell being a tough guy or Russians invading Michigan, and Turk replies "both". "Red Dawn" took place in Colorado, not Michigan.
