Summary: J.D. dismayed when his brother Dan shows up with news of their father's recent death. Everyone faces the challenge of how to be sensitive to J.D. and stumbles over their words of condolences. Meanwhile, Turk has symptoms of diabetes but in his stubbornness refuses to admit it or visit a doctor as Carla wishes. Molly must employ some advanced psychology to force him to face the issue.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

CONT: When J.D. is brushing his teeth and finds his brother is back in the bath tub and screams he has foamy lips from the tooth paste. However, when the shot cuts his lips are relatively clean again.
CONT: When Ted pulls his ice cream biscuit out of the trash and begins picking at it the amount and shape of what has been removed alters from shot to shot.
FAKE: During the first scene we see Dan in the bathtub. He starts and for a split second you can see he's wearing Speedos instead of nothing as later scenes imply.

TRIVIA

The episode which revolves around J.D.'s father's death is dedicated to John Ritter who played J.D.'s father, Sam Dorian, on the show. He died a the year before the episode was made.
