Keith Richards (II) was supposed to appear in two sketches. But they were cut after dress rehearsal because he was too intoxicated to read the cue cards.
During rehearsals, the network censors warned that Dan Aykroyd could not show too much buttock cleavage in "The Nerds" sketch. For the live show, Aykroyd purposely revealed more than he was supposed to.
This is the first episode to feature "Weekend Update" co-anchored by Jane Curtin and Bill Murray.
