The Mardi Gras partygoers were so disruptive that this episode was never rerun. Clips of it were shown in Live from New York: The First 5 Years of Saturday Night Live (2005) (TV) and the episode was included in the DVD release of the second season.
The Meters, who are from New Orleans, were scheduled to perform in this episode but were bumped due to time constraints. They performed on the show three weeks later.
Buck Henry and Jane Curtin were supposed to cover The Bacchus Parade. But a drunken partygoer was run over and killed by a float causing the parade to come to a halt.
Randy Newman (I) was only supposed to play three songs but because of the ruckus outside he was asked to play another.
This episode aired on a Sunday night during primetime instead its usual time slot of Saturday at 11:30 PM.
