• John Belushi suddenly had to go to the hospital during rehearsals. He was supposed to play Dean Slydell in the execution sketch. Tom Schiller took his place.
• John Belushi could not perform because of a stay at the hospital with a broken leg, but still calls in on the phone during Weekend Update
• Ralph Nader had worried all week about the sight gag in which his shirt was equipped with an air bag. He believed the air bag would not work. Though the air bag inflated in dress rehearsal, it did not work on-air.
• This was Bill Murray (I)'s first episode.
