Summary: Tommy Gavin is a firefighter with 62 Truck of the FDNY. He's somewhat of a troubled soul. He's still having trouble with the loss of his best friend, cousin, and firefighter - Jimmy. Jimmy was lost and on 9/11 and Tommy still sees him in his mind and talks to him. Additionally, he sees children he's tried to save that didn't make it as well.Tommy and his wife, Janet, are in the middle of getting a divorce and Tommy is having a hard time with her seeing other men. It's not easy as she lives across the road with their three children.The other guys of 62 truck have their own quirks including womanizing, gambling problems, and depression. They all play if off as it's no big thing, but each will undoubtedly have to deal with their demons in their own way.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

FACT: Tommy is talking to Garrity at the firehouse, with a tower truck in the background. When they all leave on the first run, truck 69 pulling out of the firehouse is a ladder, not a tower as seen earlier.

TRIVIA

The pilot was filmed in the Yonkers Fire Department Headquarters.
In the pilot episode of the show, both Tommy and Lou are wearing the older long style FDNY turnout coats. Denis Leary got the coat he is wearing from the late Capt. Patrick Brown who was the most decorated FDNY firefighter.
The song played at the end of the episode is "Beautiful World" by Coldplay.
Marissa Clark was originally cast as Tommy Gavin's girlfriend, Lauren and filmed the pilot episode, "Guts". After accepting her role on "Outback Jack" (2004) TBS's reality series set in Australia, the producers could not locate Clark and, panicking, recasting her role.
