After a massive radiation leak wipes out the entire population of a mining ship in space, chicken soup machine repairman Dave Lister is the only living person in the universe after coming out of suspended animation after 3,000,000 years. After almost 10 Years we now have a revival on Dave see link below. Season 9 on this page does in fact relate to this.

Later in the series, Rob Grant and Doug Naylor decided that this attitude was somewhat immature on Lister's part, and rewrote the continuity so that the two had had a brief affair shortly before the radiation leak.
