Quincy, M.E. - 01x01 Go Fight City Hall -- To the Death!

Summary: Police discover a woman dead on the beach, her neck broken and apparently raped. Not far away they find a kid with her purse, and in the scuffle the kid gets shot. But something about the kid makes Quincy believe he did not commit the murder. Shortly after Quincy begins poking around and stepping on toes, Assistant City Controller Marcus hangs himself - and Quincy discovers that his injuries suggest his neck was broken and he was placed in the noose after death. An immensely strong giant seems to be killing people, but City Hall is strangely uninterested in discovering who and why...

MISTAKES/GOOFS

CONT: In the scene where Quincy and his girlfriend Lee survey the area in Mexico where the first victim was killed by driving over a cliff, a panoramic view of the area beyond the cliff shows that it fronts on the ocean with only water visible. But when Quincy's is later thrown from his car as it is being pushed over the same cliff, a glimpse of the area in the distance shows a large city (probably Los Angeles, not Mexico) with no water in the scene.

TRIVIA

In the syndicated version, the episode was cut down from 90 minutes (when it originally aired under the NBC Sunday Mystery Movie umbrella) to 60 minutes. In addition, the familiar Quincy opening credit sequence replaced the network-commissioned NBC Mystery Movie opening credits and theme music by Henry Mancini.
