Summary: September 20, 1862: Sam leaps along his genetic line and finds himself in the civil war as his great-grandfather, Captain John Beckett. While helping the underground railroad smuggle a family to freedom, Sam must also win over his great-grandmother, or he may be erased from existence.

Mistakes/Goofs

Goof (anachronisms): Olivia owns a player piano, which wasn't invented until 1863 and not generally available until 1876.
Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Lt. Montgomery tells Sam that a particular handgun "hasn't worked since Bull Run". Montgomery, as a Confederate, would have known the battle as "Manassas".

Trivia

The title refers to another name for the American Civil War: The War Between the States.
