Mistakes/Goofs

  • Goof (incorrectly regarded as a mistake): When Barbara is trying out for Marylin's role, John Tremaine Jr. says, "If Marylin can't pull herself together, maybe we can get Liz." Huston tells him to call her agent. Tremaine isn't referring to Liz Vassey, the actress playing Barbara Whitmore, but to Elizabeth Taylor.
  • Goof (revealing mistake): When Sam wakes up a hung over Marilyn he pulls the sheets off her and she roles onto her back. Its implied she's naked and she asks him "Why aren't you turning away?" At the very edge of the frame though, a black strapless bra can be seen.
  • Goof (anachronisms): Barbara Whitmore claims to have seen all of Marilyn Monroe's films, from Dangerous Years (1947) to Let's Make Love (1960). This is an impossibility, as Let's Make Love (1960) was released on 8 September 1960, whereas Sam "leaps" into 4 April.
  • Goof (incorrectly regarded as a mistake): Al states that "There's only four days until Marilyn's suicide". This episode takes place on 4 April, 1960, while Marilyn in fact died on 5 August 1962. This is not a goof, however, because Sam's actions during the episode change history. In the episode's original time line, Marilyn died at Peter Lawford's party. Sam revives her and convinces her to make one last movie (The Misfits), delaying her death to the historically accurate date.
