Dr. Sydney Hansen, a successful plastic surgeon in Hollywood, returns to her hometown in Providence after the sudden death of her controling mother Lynda, to keep her dyfunctional family together. Lynda, who gives advice from beyond the grave, is helping Sydney to deal with her new career and with her distracted vet father Jim, mixed-up sister Joanie, and brother Robbie, a small-time hustler.
