Ratings: Runway Finishes Strong, CBS Topples ABC (TVGuide) - 9 days ago

Project Runway | Photo Credits: Lifetime

Project Runway wrapped its first season on Lifetime with season-best numbers.

The Season 6 Runway finale was watched by 4.2 million viewers, topping the night amongst the cable competition. That number was roughly 500,000 people fewer than Season 5's finale on Bravo.

Over on the networks, CBS finally loosened ABC's stranglehold on Thursday night, as it took the top spot in total viewers and in the adults 18-49 demographic. The return of Red John on The Mentalist (15.8 million viewers) was the night's most-watched show, building on solid numbers from CSI (15 million viewers) and Survivor: Samoa (12. 3 million viewers.)

All of the networks' numbers were down, but ABC took the hardest hit...

Review: Project Runway - Finale Part 2 (Season Finale) (TVSquad) - 9 days ago
Project Runway's final three (L to R): Carol Hannah, Irina, and Althea(S06E14) It's finally the end of Project Runway season six, and Carol Hannah, Althea, and Irina get to show off their looks. The three were evenly matched with a solid concept, good models, and similar makeup consultations. I've been disappointed with the way this season turned out after its long hiatus, and I'm hoping that next season's return to New York will be better.

In the end, I got the reunion show I was wondering about, in the form of Models of the Runway. It was the weirdest use of Project Runway's footage because the models didn't have any involvement in many of the videos.

The time Project Runway's three finalists have waited for is here: Fashion Week at Bryant Park.

VIDEO: See what Chris March had to say about Part 1 of the finale in Runway Rundown

On Thursday's finale, Carol Hannah, Irina and Althea will send their collections down the catwalk in hopes of wowing the judges. But only one designer will go home with  $100,000 to start her own line.

Will Althea win with her giant knits and sci-fi inspired looks? Or will Carol Hannah rally after her stomach flu to come up with a 13th look that woos the masses? Perhaps Irina will take the prize and finally win her father's approval after all these years?

Vote in our poll on who you're rooting for after the jump.

Review: Project Runway - Finale, Part I (TVSquad) - 2 weeks ago
Althea worries about her collection.
(S06E13) Project Runway's part one of their finale episodes are always boring. This episode was no exception. We learn more about the hopefuls' backgrounds, peek at their final collection, Tim critiques them, they come to New York, and get some bombshell in one form or another.

This year's bomb is recycled from season two: a last minute thirteenth piece with the help of an eliminated contestant. This time, the muse model picks their final model.

The first half of the show was all about watching Tim in awkward situations: struggling to use a freight elevator, baking biscuits, and interacting with dogs.

Runway's Gordana: I Knew I Would Get Kicked Off Regardless of What I Made (TVGuide) - 2 weeks ago

After last week's museum-inspired challenge, many Project Runway fans were not too thrilled that the judges eliminated Gordana Gehlhausen even though her dress was believed to be one of the best designs on the catwalk. The 45-year-old designer told TVGuide.com that no matter what she made, she knew she wasn't going to Bryant Park "because that's how it was through the whole show for me."

5 Reasons Why Project Runway May Have Lost Its Style (TVGuide) - 3 weeks ago

Ever since Project Runway made the move from New York to L.A. — and to Lifetime — fans increasingly have grumbled about the reality competition show. While the Season 6 premiere brought in record ratings for the women-oriented cable channel, it has lost nearly a million viewers, leaving 3.2 million watching the Oct. 29 episode. Project Runway Rundown: Did Gordana Deserve to Go? (TVGuide) - 3 weeks ago

Tension ran high as the designers put all their energy into a final look. As usual, "Meana Irina" made cutting comments and Christopher covered his face with his palms and wept softly.

Review: Project Runway - The Art of Design (TVSquad) - 3 weeks ago
Christopher studies a piece of art.
(S06E12) It's the trend for most contestants on Project Runway to cave during the final challenge; this season was no exception. This season's final challenge was to be inspired by the Getty museum. The contestants had two days and $300 to design the dress.

Inspiration:

Althea - Overall Architecture
Christopher - Rock Fountain
Irina - Mischief and Repose by Godward.
Gordana - Rouen Cathedral by Monet
Carol Hannah - Bed - French, Paris (circa 1775 - 1780)

There was so much to be inspired by in the Getty Center, and I feel like the show rushed its way through.

VIDEO: Project Runway's Logan Explains His "Bond" with Carol Hannah (TVGuide) - 3 weeks ago

Last week, our tight-pants aficionado Logan was auf'd from Project Runway for what the judges found to be a subpar companion piece to one of his best designs. TVGuide.com caught up with Logan to find out what he thought of Althea's accusation that he copied her collar, what really was going on between him and Carol Hannah and which two designers from the show he is partnering up with to open a studio in New York.

Project Runway Rundown: The Battle of the Baggy Sweaters (TVGuide) - 4 weeks ago

Project Runway | Photo Credits: Mike Yarish/Lifetime

This week on Project Runway, the final six designers had to create a companion look for one of their previous winning designs (well, except Logan who is 0-10).

Project Runway's Nicolas explains "Feather Prince" nickname

Althea and Irina both created similar oversized tops. But Althea's bag-waisted pants paired with gray knitwear took the win, leaving Irina less than thrilled.

In the bottom are the two men: Christopher used approximately 600 yards of silver fabric to create a ruffled mess of a gown, while Logan went for a more futuristic, zippered look. The judges hated Logan's sci-fi minidress and gave him — and his tight pants — the boot.

Review: Project Runway - Best of the Best (TVSquad) - 4 weeks ago
Irina Shabayeva looks at the other contestants
(S06E11) Project Runway finally explained why different people won challenges this season instead of just Irina and Althea winning all of them. This week's challenge was to make a companion piece to the contestants' winning looks. Unfortunately, Logan has never won a challenge. With one day and $100, they had to make it work.

On paper, the challenge sounds like an interesting way of thinking of cohesive collections. Most of these designers have an aesthetic (Carol Hannah doesn't like pants, Christopher likes full skirts). For Gordana, Christopher, and Logan, the companion pieces that they made neither complimented, nor improved on their original outfits.

Oprah's real time with Christian Soriano and Adam Lambert (TVSquad) - 4 weeks ago
christian_soriano_bravoIf things don't work out for Project Runway winner Christian Soriano in the fashion biz, he might want to consider a full-time gig as a talk show diva. As the number one guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show today, Christian was fierce, fun and oh-so-comfy that at times I thought Ms. O had her own little Ed McMahon or Andy Richter... but with a lot more style.

Oprah devoted the show to reality TV and the big get was Adam Lambert, the runner up in last season's American Idol. You wouldn't have guessed he was second place based on the assertion by Oprah that he was the top choice of her viewers when asked which reality star they wanted to see on her show.

I know I'm cynical, but I think it was planned. Adam's album is coming out on November 23 and there's already been lots of buzz, including the CD cover.

Review: Project Runway - Around the World in Two Days (TVSquad) - 5 weeks ago
Christopher Straub works on his outfit
(S06E10) This week on Project Runway, the challenge was to become inspired by several locations that Michael Kors loves. They were given $150 and the day to make a pretty outfit. Why does it seem like there's always one contestant that gets a topic they know nothing about and makes something not even close?

There are only a few challenges left, and I have to admit that other than Irina, the rest of the competitors' outfits have become more and more boring. Production really needs to give these contestants one or two days off between challenges to recharge their batteries.

Review: Top Chef - Restaurant Wars (TVSquad) - 5 weeks ago
top chef
(S06E09)
The thing that sets Top Chef apart from similar shows such as Project Runway or Hell's Kitchen, is the level of professionalism on display. While both of those shows have strong contestants, on the whole, the pool seems more amateurish than those on Top Chef. This was clearly evident in this week's episode with the Quickfire Challenge.

The challenge, in which the contestants had to go in blind and complete a dish in ten-minute segments was amazing. I was thoroughly impressed with not only the fact that they could do this in the first place, but with how cool and calm everyone stayed. There wasn't a single contestant who didn't seem completely professional-- a fact that was evident when you saw how impressed guest judge Rick Moonen was with everyone.

Runway Rundown: The Designers Break Out the Sequins for Christina Aguilera (TVGuide) - 6 weeks ago

Project Runway | Photo Credits: Lifetime

This week on Project Runway, the designers create a performance look for Christina Aguilera.

As a result, there are sequins and feathers all over the runway, where legendary costume designer Bob Mackie and Aguilera judge the contestants' looks.

Carol Hannah gets a well-deserved win for her black creation of sequins, matte fabric and iridescent feathers. But Shirin's goth gown is deemed the worst of the bunch and she gets auf'd.

Project Runway: Sequins, Feathers, and Fur. Oh, My! (TVSquad) - 6 weeks ago
Shirin doesn't like hearing bad criticism.(S06E09) This week on Project Runway the contestants are given a very interesting challenge: design an extravagant stage look. Their inspiration has to come from world renowned Bob Mackie and pop superstar Christina Aguilera in mind. They had two days and $300 to make a sequin/feather extravaganza.

Unfortunately for us, Gordana had the last immunity of the season and couldn't be eliminated. I guess what she made was better than a sequin sweater. If I had immunity, I would have made a sequin one piece bathing suit with feather accents. It probably would have been better than Gordana's dress.
