Actually not of UK origin but extremly popular in the UK. This show was set in the Wentworth Detention Centre, a women's prison. It reloved around the lives of both the officers and inmates. Stalwart through the entire series was officer Meg Jackson/Morris. Meg herself was born in neighbouring Barnhurst prison and was very smypathetic to the inmates and tried endlessly to help
