It was a comedy about a wise-cracking, spinster English teacher at Madison High School who yearns for love with Philip Boynton, a Biology teacher. She also had lots of trouble with the Principal. She was generally depressed about her lot in life and yet she joked about it in ways that kept the audience laughing throughout each episode.
