Evil Queen: I want true happiness.
Rumplestiltskin: Then find it elsewhere, dearie! Magic can do much, but not that. Dead is dead.
Evil Queen: Then I am lost.
Rumplestiltskin: And I've had my time wasted. I'm sorry, but, uh, transcending death is beyond even my reach.

The Mad Hatter: I got what you wanted. [holds out a glass ball]
Rumplestiltskin: [Wizard of Oz reference] What about the slippers?
The Mad Hatter: Oh, couldn't find 'em. Heard talk they've already been moved to another land.
Rumplestiltskin: That's what I needed to get to that other land!
The Mad Hatter: Well, come with me in my hat. I'm sure we can work something out.
Rumplestiltskin: No, no, your hat only transports between magical realms. I need to get to a land without magic.
The Mad Hatter: Why would anyone want that.
02x05 - The Doctor Season 2 / Episode 5: - The Doctor

Rumplestiltskin: [to Regina] So long as you harbor foolish notions of bringing back the dead, so long as you live in the past, you'll never find your future. Teaching you is a waste of time.

Captain Hook: I can't thank you enough for your kindness. Fortune, it seems, has seen fit to show me favor.
Emma Swan: An island full of corpses. You're the only one to escape. How exactly did that happen?
Captain Hook: She attacked at night, slaughtered everyone in one fell swoop. When she started ripping out people's hearts, I hid under the bodies of those who had already been killed. Pretended to be dead myself. Mercifully, the ruse worked.
Emma Swan: So much for fortune favoring the brave.
Captain Hook: It was all I could do to survive.
02x05 - The Doctor Season 2 / Episode 5: - The Doctor

Dr. Whale: These are all... hearts?
Evil Queen: My mother was a collector.

Prince Charming: He's a monster, Regina! If you won't put him down, I will!
02x05 - The Doctor Season 2 / Episode 5: - The Doctor

Daniel: Stop. Just stop the pain.
Evil Queen: How?
Daniel: Just... let me go.
Evil Queen: No. No, I won't lose you again. Without you, I'm lost. Daniel. Daniel, come back to me!
Daniel: Can't. Can't.
Evil Queen: [whispering] But I love you.
Daniel: Then love again.
02x05 - The Doctor Season 2 / Episode 5: - The Doctor

Dr. Whale: It's been a pleasure doing business with you.
Rumplestiltskin: Oh, the pleasure was mine. Thanks to your efforts, I've made my monster. Now, I do hope you'll be able to make yours.
Dr. Whale: I'm not making a monster.
Rumplestiltskin: Sure you're not. Good luck.
Dr. Whale: If these hearts are as strong as you say, I won't need luck.
Rumplestiltskin: Oh, just magic.
Dr. Whale: No. What I'm going to accomplish goes far beyond magic.
Rumplestiltskin: And yet you need a magical heart to do it.
Dr. Whale: So small minded. I need my powers to transcend the limitations of your magic.
Rumplestiltskin: This must be quite a land you hail from if you think your abilities are more powerful.
Dr. Whale: They are.
Rumplestiltskin: Care to wager? I suspect some day you'll see it my way.
Dr. Whale: I doubt it.
02x04 - The Crocodile Season 2 / Episode 4: - The Crocodile

Rumplestiltskin: I'll have what I came for now.
Captain Hook: You'll have to kill me first!
Rumplestiltskin: Ah-ah! I'm afraid that's not in the cards for you, sonny boy. [cuts off Captain Hook's left hand with a sword] I want you alive because I want you to suffer, like I did. [Captain Hook grabs a hook and plunges it into Rumpelstiltskin's chest - Rumpelstiltskin giggles] Killing me's going to take a lot more than that, dearie.
Captain Hook: Even demons can be killed. I will find a way.
Rumplestiltskin: Well, good luck living long enough.

Rumplestiltskin: W-well... You have my wife.
Captain Hook: Well, I've had many a man's wife.

02x04 - The Crocodile Season 2 / Episode 4: - The Crocodile

William Smee: You haven't heard my price.
Rumplestiltskin: I spin straw into gold. Price shouldn't be a problem.
William Smee: I don't want money. I want eternal life.
Rumplestiltskin: [laughs] Only the Dark One has life eternal. Tell you what, my son. What I can do - what about, youth? Spin the clock back... till you're a little boy again.
William Smee: Close enough. Deal.
Rumplestiltskin: But remember! You fail to deliver, I spin the clock forward and turn you into dust.
02x04 - The Crocodile Season 2 / Episode 4: - The Crocodile

David Nolan: Do you remember turning a butcher into a pig?
Rumplestiltskin: Can't say that I do. Why?
David Nolan: Well, he does. Apparently it was his father. I'm beginning to understand why nobody wants to help you.
Rumplestiltskin: Well, what... h-has he seen Belle?
David Nolan: Afraid not.
Rumplestiltskin: Okay, so what's next?
David Nolan: Granny's, we can see who else you terrorized there.
02x04 - The Crocodile Season 2 / Episode 4: - The Crocodile

David Nolan: Are you asking dating advice?
Rumplestiltskin: Of course not, no.
David Nolan: [looks at him for a moment] Honesty. That's how we did it. Hard work and being honest with one another.
Rumplestiltskin: Well... I don't lie.
David Nolan: There's a difference between literal truth and honesty of the heart. Nothing taught me that more than this curse.
02x04 - The Crocodile Season 2 / Episode 4: - The Crocodile

Milah: I let my misery cloud my judgment.
Rumplestiltskin: And why were you so miserable?
Milah: Because I never loved you.
02x04 - The Crocodile Season 2 / Episode 4: - The Crocodile

Rumplestiltskin: Belle, what's wrong?
Belle: Thank you for what you just did, but that doesn't change that you're too cowardly to be honest with me.
Rumplestiltskin: Belle, I...
Moe French: I tried to tell him that, Belle. Come with me, darling.
Belle: After what you just tried to do to me? You're no better, father. You don't get to decide what I do or how I feel. I do. If either of you cared about me, you would've listened. I don't want to see either of you again. Ever.
02x04 - The Crocodile Season 2 / Episode 4: - The Crocodile

Rumplestiltskin: I came because... you're right... about me. I am a coward. I have been my entire life. I tried to make up for it by collecting power and the power became so important that I couldn't let go... not even... when that meant losing the most important person in my life.
Belle: [nods] Your son.
Rumplestiltskin: Baelfire is his name. After he left, I dedicated myself to finding him. I went down many, many paths until I found a curse that could take me to the land where he'd escaped.
Belle: Here.
Rumplestiltskin: Then I find myself in this little town with only one thing left to do. Wait for the curse to be broken so that I could leave and find him.
Belle: But instead of looking for him, you-you brought magic.
Rumplestiltskin: Because I'm still a coward. Magic has become a crutch that I can't walk without. And even if I could, I now know that I can never leave this place.
