Character Bio

Ed Chigliak is a mild-mannered, amiably tactless, half-Native Alaskan foundling raised by the local Tlingits. He does odd jobs for Maurice and also works part-time at Ruth-Anne's general store. A film buff and would-be director, Ed learned everything he knew about life and the outside world from movies, especially those of Woody Allen and Federico Fellini. He is a shaman-in-training and is occasionally visited by his invisible spirit guide, One-Who-Waits, and by his personal demon, Low Self Esteem, who resembles a leprechaun. Ed writes, directs and produces his own film about Cicely.

Ed Chigliak Quotes
![]() | Season 6 / Episode 17: - The Graduate Ed Chigliak: [looking through a film catalog] The Italian Straw Hat? Eyes Without a Face? This is gonna be great! Maggie O'Connell: [new owner of the movie theater] Eyes Without a Face. Uh? Ed Chigliak: Yeah. [shows her the catalog] Maggie O'Connell: Oh, French. 1959! You, you really think people are going to respond to that? Ed Chigliak: Oh, yeah, Maggie. Audiences, they get all emotional over plastic surgery stories. It's almost a rule of thumb! |
![]() | Season 6 / Episode 17: - The Graduate Ed Chigliak: Pretty big line out there. I guess 'Forrest Gump' really is more popular than 'Nosferatu'. Maggie O'Connell: Look, I know you meant well, Ed. Ed Chigliak: Oh, it's probably that Tom Hanks. Maggie O'Connell: Yeah, could be. Ed Chigliak: I bet you if Tom Hanks had played Nosferatu, eighty domestic, easy. |
