Summary: With the war going strong, Charles is injured and nursed back to heal the by a nice lady, and Virgilia becomes a nurse under Dorothea Dix. In the North, Stanley and Isobel hatch a plan to make money off the war, while in the South Elkanah Bent is milking the blockade for big profits. When Burdetta Halloran catches Bent in bed with Ashton, she reveals his plans to General Main. After Orry costs him a fortune, Bent lets Ashton in on the secret of Madeline’s origins.
