Summary: John and Eva look into the death of a homeless man whose best friend believes that his death, which was deemed an overdose, was actually a homicide. As they investigate, John and Eva make a connection between a homeless shelter and a guitar that the victim kept in his locker. Meanwhile, John thinks back to his addiction and a 12-step program he entered in 1964 after finding himself in a psych ward following too many nights of drinking and passing out.

CONT: John states that he left home in 1620 when he was 14. But in the episode "Golden Boy", as he's filling out a form during World War II with his 20th century bio, he says his real name and birthdate, in 1607. This means he was only 12 or 13 when he left home.
