Arthur: Did you just give me an order? Merlin: Yes, sire. Arthur: Feels good, does it? Merlin: It's... not unpleasant. |

[moves a bench and crash it to the wall with magic] Uther Pendragon: You have magic... Merlin: [quivering with anger] I was born with it! Uther Pendragon: I made you Arthur's servant... You are a sorcerer! Merlin: Even when you were king, there was magic at the heart of Camelot! Uther Pendragon: I will not allow you and your kind to poison... Merlin: You're wrong. Uther Pendragon: ...my kingdom! Merlin: [laughs coldly] You're wrong. That's so much... Arthur is a better and more worthy king than you ever were. [Uther bawls with anger, but Merlin drives him through the wall with magic] |

[holds a spoon in front of Merlin's face] Do not breathe a word of this to anyone. Not even Guinevere. Merlin: [sarcastically] You're threatening me with a spoon? [in the next frame, there is a sound and Merlin screams in pain, off screen] |

Merlin: You've always done what you believed to be right, even if your father would disapprove of it. Do you not see how different you are to him? Camelot's a better place since you became king. Arthur: Father clearly doesn't think so. Merlin: The people believe in you, Arthur. That counts for nothing if you don't believe in yourself. |

Arthur: I feel like such a fool. I put such trust in him. All this time I was blind to his treachery as I was to Morgana's. Merlin: You were deceived, Arthur. That could happen to anyone. Arthur: Yet it keeps happening to me. I cared about these people. I don't understand. What have I done wrong? Why do they hate me? Merlin: No, they don't hate you. They just... crave your power for themselves. Arthur: Perhaps. Would they still want that power if I was the king my people deserve? Maybe Tristan's right... Merlin: Tristan was angry and afraid. He needed to blame someone. But it's not you that's to blame. Arthur: You seem very sure about all this. Merlin: All I know is that, for your many faults... you are honest and brave and truehearted, and one day you will be the greatest king this land has ever known. Arthur: [smiles briefly, half joking] Well, good to know I have the support of my servant, at least. Merlin: [still serious] I'm not alone. Believe me. |

After all, I haven't seen you since you condemned my sister to a slow and painful death, thwarted my plans to take over Camelot, and forced me to live in a hovel. Merlin: Couldn't do me a favor, could you? Let Arthur know he still thinks of me as an underachiever, but I'm quite proud of those accomplishments. I can die happy. |

Merlin: A man who is all right does not pace, Gaius. Gaius: Oh, well, that's why I asked. Merlin: I am wrestling with a problem and there are many factors to take into consideration, and I have not yet come up with a solution. Gaius: Can I be of assistance? Merlin: [laughs sarcastically] No. Gaius: Would you like to share the problem with me? [Merlin pauses with an arrogant expression] Merlin: No. Gaius: Sometimes two heads are better than one. Merlin: Yes, but not when one of them is yours. |

Merlin: But how do we get rid of it, if it keeps growing back? Gaius: There's only one way, I'm afraid. You have to kill the mother beast. Merlin: The creature that lives in Morgana's hut? [Gaius nods] Great. How long have I got<+ How long before this thing wakes up? Gaius: A day, no more. And I wouldn't face her alone. Merlin: Don't worry, I won't be there at all. Well, not exactly. [Merlin picks up a potion bottle from a table] She won't recognize me if I'm eighty years old. Gaius: What should I say if Arthur asks for you? Merlin: Tell him I'm anywhere. [opens and closes the door, but looks inside one last time] Anywhere but the tavern. |

A round table afforded no man more importance than any other. They believed in equality in all things. So, it seems fitting that we revive this tradition now. Without each of you, we would not be here. My father has languished in prison too long. Tomorrow, I make my bid to rescue him. Are there any around this table who will join me? [each of them stand and talk in turns] Lancelot: You taught me the values of being a knight, the code by which a man should live his life. To fight with honour for justice, freedom, and all that's good. I believe in the world that you will build. Elyan: Even though I was a commoner, a nobody, you were willing to lay down your life for me, Arthur. It is now my turn to repay you. Sir Leon: I have fought alongside you many times. There is no one that I would rather die for. Gwaine: [grins] I think we've no chance. But I wouldn't miss it for the world. Percival: Your enemies are my enemies. Gaius: If you need an old man. [Arthur smiles briefly, tears flowing in his eyes] Gwen: You know the answer. [everyone has now stood up, except for Merlin, who grins where he is still sitting] Arthur: [raises an eyebrow] Merlin? Merlin: No, I don't really fancy you. Arthur: You don't have a choice, Merlin. Merlin: Okay. [he stands with a smile, then nods seriously] |

If I can find it, and empty it of the blood within, then the army will be destroyed, and Morgana will be powerless. Lancelot: Aren't you forgetting something? It's guarded. By an immortal army. Merlin: Aren't you forgetting something? I have magic. Lancelot: Doesn't make you immortal. Merlin: No. Lancelot: You know, Merlin... You're the one Arthur should knight. You're the bravest of us all... and he doesn't even know. |

Gaius: [smiles proudly] I remember the bumbling idiot that came charging into my chambers all those years ago. Who would believe. |
