The character of David Breck was originally intended to be David Patterson, the son of original Melrose character Jake Hanson and who was seen as a boy in the original series in 1997 played by actor Jeremy Lelliott. However the producers decided to make the character the secret lovechild of original series character Dr. Michael Mancini instead.
