In this episode Joe says "Yeah, my frickin' fake fiancé!" when Mel goes to his reunion to try and pretend to be his fiancé to help him out. Melissa Joan Hart & Joey Lawrence starred in a movie called "My Fake Fiancé."
After Mel asks Joey if he wants to be her plus 1, he replies with "whoa". After he points out that it has been a while since he last said it, he says it again but this time he says it like he used to do in "Blossom" (1990).
In one scene, Joe is making what he calls his famous butternut squash ravioli. Mel teases him if it really famous by asking, "Is it dating a supermodel? Did it beat up paparazzi? Was it on Dancing with the Stars?". Joe replies, "Finished higher than you did". This is an inside joke as both Joseph Lawrence and Melissa Joan Hart were on Dancing With the Stars in different seasons, and Lawrence did in fact finished higher than she did. He finished 3rd in season four, while Hart finished 9th in season nine.
