Episode Quotes
James 'Sawyer' Ford: Yo chief, dumb question; we're sailing out in the ocean, right?
Michael Dawson: Do you mind?
James 'Sawyer' Ford: Sulu over here is packing a suitcase full of salted fish!
Michael Dawson: Yeah?
James 'Sawyer' Ford: We can't catch fish?
Michael Dawson: Do you know anything about surviving at sea? Sailing? Navigating? Steering a raft?
James 'Sawyer' Ford: Do you?
Michael Dawson: It doesn't matter what I know; I built it! Maybe you are the wrong guy to go on the raft.
James 'Sawyer' Ford: You're gonna vote me off, "Mickie"? And who the hell's gonna take my place?

Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: Hey, you don't think Kate did it, do you?
John Locke: [looking confused] Why would Kate poison Michael?
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: Well, you know, the whole fugitive thing.
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: [to Jack] He doesn't know.
Jack Shephard: [shakes head]
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: [shouts] We how am I supposed to keep it straight who knows what around here? I mean Steve didn't even know about the polar bear.

Charlie Pace: Platinum.
Kate Austen: Platinum?
Charlie Pace: As in a platinum record, as in a million units sold. Now drive shaft's albums must have spiked when everybody found out that I have died in some catastrophic plane disaster. When I come back, alive, it's gonna be insane.
Kate Austen: So you think the raft's gonna work?
Charlie Pace: Of course it'll work, look at that thing! It's not a raft; they built a sodding boat. When they get picked up, the helicopters will come, making us ridiculously and eternally famous. What's the matter? Don't you wanna be famous?

Mistakes/Goofs
- Goof (factual errors): In the shootout at the Iowa hospital, Kate and Tom are blocked by blue patrol cars. Iowa State Patrol cars are brown.
- Goof (factual errors): The car Kate and Tom get into just before the shootout with the Iowa State Patrol does not have a front license plate. By Iowa law, all passenger vehicles are required to have both front and back tags. As Tom owns the car, he would have no reason to omit front tags.
Trivia
- {Born to Run (#1.22)}
- Kate uses the alias of "Joan Hart" early in the episode. Kate's mother is played by Beth Broderick, who played Melissa Joan Hart's aunt on Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.
- As children, Kate and Tom buried their time capsule on August 15th, 1989, or 8/15/1989. The plane that crashed in the pilot was flight 815, and 8 and 15 are two of "Hurley's numbers."
