MISTAKES/GOOFS
- FACT: When Sayid says that he fought in the Gulf War, Hurley says he had a buddy who also fought there, stating "He was in the 104th Airborne." There was no unit designated "104th Airborne" that fought in the Gulf War. There was, however, a 104th Airborne that fought in Chechnya for the Russian Federation in 2004.
- CONT: During the flashback sequences for both the pilot and the finale, different characters are meant to be traveling through different sections of the plane, although it appears that, with the exception of business class, the same section was used for filming but with different people. This becomes a problem when spoken lines referring to seat numbers as well as the footage from right before the crash doesn't match at all to the boarding footage in the finale.
- CONT: During the flashback scene where Charlie is in the bathroom, he opens a bag of heroin that was closed with a yellow rubber band. While he is taking pinches of the drug and rubbing it inside his mouth, the rubber band goes from being loosely over the first two fingers of his left hand, to being wrapped twice around his index finger, back to being loosely over the first two fingers again.
- CONT: After Sayid and Sawyer finish fighting, Micheal hands Jack a pair of handcuffs. After that, while Sawyer is shouting, you can clearly spot that in one scene his sleeves reach his wrists, then its folded, then it's back till his wrists. They used 2-3 shots to make one scene.
TRIVIA
- When Sayid and Sawyer are fighting, Sayid says "Ibn al-kalb" to him. This translates to "Son of a bitch".
- Dominic Monaghan, 'Matthew Fox', and Evangeline Lilly were not allowed to see the cockpit set before shooting. They were blindfolded until cameras rolled. They were walked down the path, cameras now on, and their reaction to seeing the cockpit leaning against the trees was real. This one-take is what was used in the pilot episode.
- The case that flies out of the locker and hits Fredric Lehne on the head was made of rubber. Lane had tiny tubes hidden in his hairline which then released blood to run down his face.
- In the original outline of the pilot episode, Jack was supposed to be killed halfway through the two-part pilot; however, early readers claimed killing him off would lose viewers. The producers subsequently cast Fox in the role as a permanent character after considerations of a better known guest star such as Michael Keaton.
- Broadcast restrictions prevented any shots of Charlie ingesting heroin. The producers got around this problem using clever cutting.
