This is the only series to date to show Jonathan Kent living into Superman's adult life. In the George Reeves serial and the Christopher Reeve movies Jonathan Kent dies of heart failure.
Prior to being cast as Lois, Teri Hatcher appeared on an episode of Seinfeld, where in one scene her character made reference to Jerry's obsession with Superman.
John Shea decided to leave the series after the first season, because he was tired of the strenuous commute from New York to Los Angeles. He would later return for four guest spots during seasons 2-4.
