Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney are best friends and roommates coping with dates, neighbours, and each other during the late 50's and early 60's. They used to work as bottlecappers for Shotz Brewery in Milwaukee but they were replaced by an automated bottlecapper. So they moved to Burbank, California to start a new life.

- For several years there was a certain amount of interplay between the characters of this show and Happy Days, especially when both shows were set in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
