  • The DVD release is titled "Season 1" not "The Complete Series", even though the show was already canceled.
  • This is the second time both Paul Campbell and Bruce Davison have appeared in a remake of a Glen A. Larson TV show. The first was Battlestar Galactica, remaking Battlestar Galactica (1978). Paul's character in it had also been named Billy.
  • Second Knight Rider spin-off to have one of the characters be an offspring of Michael Knight. In this series it's Mike Traceur, while in Team Knight Rider it was Jenny.
  • Will Arnett was originally casted as the voice of K.I.T.T. in the pilot episode and even recorded it. But was let go after Mustang informed NBC to recast him two weeks before the pilot episode aired because Arnett was the voice of GMC truck commercials. Val Kilmer was then brought in last minute to be the voice of K.I.T.T.

  • Originally, Will Arnett was cast as the voice of K.I.T.T. However, after he had finished recording his lines to everyone's satisfaction, a conflict of interest was raised. His is the distinctive voice heard on General Motors car and truck commercials, but K.I.T.T. is a Ford vehicle. As a result, Val Kilmer was cast as K.I.T.T.'s voice and all of the car's dialog was re-recorded.

The two would face off at the end of the episode, resulting in K.A.R.R. jumping off a bridge in order to save itself from a head-on collision with K.I.T.T.. K.A.R.R. would later make a final appearance in the episode K.I.T.T. vs K.A.R.R., were the rogue super car was finally destroyed.

In addition, Benedict also played the character of Starbuck in Battlestar Galactica (1978); Battlestar Galactica and Knight Rider were both executive produced by Glen A. Larson.
