Season 8 Trivia

  • Episode 09 - The title is a reference to a famous painting by René Magritte which shows a realistic depiction of a pipe above the title "Ceci n'est pas une pipe" ("This is not a pipe"). Magritte was emphasizing the distinction between a real thing (such as a pipe) and a representation of reality
  • Episode 21 - Several plot aspects (including TPS reports, traffic jams, and avoiding work) reflect plot aspects of Office Space. Mike Judge created both Office Space and King of the Hill.
  • Episode 14 - The episode title is taken from "Death be not proud", the first words of a poem by John Donne officially titled "Divine Sonnet X". 'Death Be Not Proud' is also the title of a book by John Gunther, a memoir of his son, who died of a brain tumor.
  • Episode 17 - Goof (factual errors): The rounded feature at the top of the front wall was not present at the time of battle. And even though it always present in images of the front facade it was added years later.
  • Episode 07 - The title is a reference to the Grateful Dead song "Truckin'," though the actual lyric is "Living on reds and vitamin C and cocaine."
