The episode "The Ties That Bind" has the writer being listed as Steranko who is presumably the renowned comic book artist, illustrator and former stage magician, Jim Steranko. The story features Mister Miracle, a superhero escape artist created by Jack Kirby who was loosely inspired by Jim Steranko.
The character of "Vermin Vunderbarr" (Arte Johnson) says, "Ver-r-r-ry interesting," in the manner of the German soldier character he played on "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In" (1967) whose catchphrase was "Ver-r-r-ry interesting... but schtoopid."
