Summary: When Maya finds her self out of a job, she has no other choice but to ask the one person she never wanted to ask: her father, Jack. Once there, she must deal with the competition from Jack's current employees: Nina, the fasion editor, who believes Maya is there for her job. Elliot, the head photographer, who hates how Maya hates his attitude towards women, and Finch, Jack's secretary, who fears Maya will replace him as Jack's "go to guy" (or gal in this case). But most of all Maya must deal with her hatred towards her father, and everything he stands for.

TRIVIA

The original set was drastically different from the one used in the series. One such difference was an opulent staircase that led up to Nina's office. Wendie Malick was disappointed that the staircase was removed, as it provided her character with the opportunity to make distinct and comedic entrances. Malick unsuccessfully lobbied for the staircase's return throughout much of the series' run.
The part of Dennis Finch was written specifically for David Spade, and was added after the original pilot had already been taped. Before it was added, there was a minor secretary character called Connor, but he bore little resemblance to Finch.
