Jonathan Creek (Alan Davies), a man who makes his living inventing the tricks for magician Adam Klaus (Stuart Milligan). Creek has a brilliantly lateral mind but is invariably enlisted, with not so subtle means, by investigative journalist Madeline Magellan (Caroline Quentin) to solve murders and other mysteries that apparently could not have happened but have.
