While writing a piece about the death of a prominent artist, investigative journalist Madeline Magellan enlists the help of Jonathan Creek, a man who makes a living inventing tricks for magician Adam Klaus, and who has a brilliantly lateral mind. The pair work together to solve the case and strike up a friendship as they go on to solve a series of baffling murders.
