Summary: Sixteen-year-old Joan Girardi and her family have recently moved to the town of Arcadia, Maryland. One day, she encounters a boy of about her own age who makes an extremely outrageous claim: that he is God. He gives her a simple assignment: get a job. Meanwhile, her father, Will Girardi, is investigating a serial killer.
