- During the funeral scenes the extras were trying to be serious, but Joanna Lumley was playing the organ very badly and it was hard to stifle the giggles.
- Ten women from the North Tawton WI appear in the series. The production company did a pilot in October 2005 then returned to film the series in autumn 2006. The filming took place in the real meeting hall.
