Episode Quotes

Lt. Cmdr. Harmon 'Harm' Rabb, Jr.: You know when the Admiral told me he was partnering me with a Marine major, I had visions of a tattooed jarhead challenging me to arm wrestle on my lunch hour.
Maj. Sarah 'Mac' MacKenzie: Well, I do have a tattoo, I'm a pretty good arm wrestler, and, although I don't like the term, I guess I am technically a jarhead.
Lt. Cmdr. Harmon 'Harm' Rabb, Jr.: Whoa, whoa, whoa, back up. You have a tattoo? How come I've never seen it? [looks Mac up and down] And where would one find this tattoo?
Maj. Sarah 'Mac' MacKenzie: [has a look of 'oh crap' on her face] I'm afraid that's classified information, Commander. [laughs and backs away from Harm]
Lt. Cmdr. Harmon 'Harm' Rabb, Jr.: Oh, yeah? You have tattoos?
Maj. Sarah 'Mac' MacKenzie: [Harm is piling the research work on Bud] Harm, Bud's been at it non-stop for thirty-two hours and twenty-four minutes.
Lt. Cmdr. Harmon 'Harm' Rabb, Jr.: How do you *do* that?
Maj. Sarah 'Mac' MacKenzie: My mother's Swiss.

Mistakes/Goofs

  • Goof (anachronisms): The dialogue consistently suggests that the Hornet was still in service in 1975 when Lt. Tate was entombed in the void. The Hornet was in fact decommissioned in 1970 and was in reserve in Washington five years later.
  • Goof (continuity error): Harm says he was once before on the USS Hornet, but the following flashback clearly shows a banner reading "Welcome ... Family and Friends ... Ticonderoga", clearly indicating that the ship in question is the USS Ticonderoga, which was Harmon Rabb Sr.'s duty station during his second tour, not his first.

Trivia

  • The setting aboard the U.S.S. Hornet owes to the ship's reputation for being haunted.
