- The first animated series to depict an African-American family or ensemble. Because of this, Producers made a conscious effort to keep the show free of violence and other related negative content.
- Due to Michael Jackson's huge popularity, and the success of the Jackson's 1984 reunion Victory album and tour, ABC reran episodes of the series on Saturday Mornings during the mid 80's.
