Inspired by the book about the unlikely friendship between a traditional writer and a rude personal trainer. Andrew Carlson is a columnist whose devotion to ideals from a more civilized time has lead to a life detached from modern society. When Andrew's editor tells him to put a modern twist on his column or be fired, he hires Bert Lansing, a reformed bad boy, as a life coach.
