Goof (anachronisms): During the flash back to 1998, when Lily tells Ted that she always wanted an easy bake oven, Lily is seen wearing a pair of Puma Repli Cat shoes from 2006.

Trivia

Title derives from Dr. Seuss' book "How the Grinch stole Christmas".
Barney teases Ted by calling him "Ted Vivian Mosby". Later in that episode, it is revealed that Ted's actual middle name is "Evelyn", a predominantly female name.
Joss Whedon connections: Harry Groener who played Ted's Mother's new husband Clint in this episode was also the Mayor in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
