Episode Quotes

Dr. Darryl Nolan: [to House] You need to stop fight the system. You need to let me do my job.
Dr. Beasley: Ready to play nice?
Dr. Gregory House: Would you believe me if I said "yes."
Dr. Beasley: No.
Dr. Gregory House: Then yes.
Dr. Gregory House: I want to get better. Whatever the hell that means. Sick of being miserable.
Dr. Darryl Nolan: So you'd like to be happy.
Dr. Gregory House: Again with the reflecting. Yes! I'd like to be happy.
Dr. Darryl Nolan: Being happy is an excellent goal. Not many patients can crystallize exactly what they're hoping to get out of this.

Mistakes/Goofs

  • Goof (factual errors): House and Alvie stage a fight in order to get a pill of Haldol to trade with Hal for a phone call. In an emergency situation (such as a fight) Haldol would be administered by injection, as a pill would take minutes to absorb.

Trivia

  • The "M.D." is removed from the title as House doesn't have his license in this double episode.
  • Ana Lenchantin, who plays the mute cellist patient, is actually a professional cellist.
  • SPOILER: The music box plays "Das klinget so herrlich" from Act One of "The Magic Flute" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In the opera, a band of men are about to seize Papageno, who then plays the tune on his glockenspiel (in some productions a hand-cranked music box is used). The music enchants the men and they sing happily and exit. This is a parallel to the music box beginning the healing of the mute cellist.
  • Main titles are not used in this episode. House (Hugh Laurie) and Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard), are the only regulars to appear in the episode.
