Summary: Moments before mobster Joey Arnello is set to reveal his mob secrets in federal court, he ends up collapsing. A court order instructs House to find out if he is faking and quickly. House and his team struggle to diagnose and cure Joey mainly because his brother, Bill, is dead set against Joey testifying at all. In the meantime, Cuddy tries to convince a disbelieving Vogler that House is actually an essential part of the hospital and not just costly as he thinks. Joey keeps mysteriously slipping in and out of a coma and now that his job is on the line, House decides it's time to make an exception to his own policy and tries to get to know his patient.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

FAKE: When House holds up the quit-smoking candy, it is actually written in Japanese. It is not a Chinese candy but a Japanese candy.
CHAR: When talking about Joey during his first coma, they say he is "an 8 on the Glasgow scale", which is "almost dead". In reality, an 8 on the scale indicates some degree of: movement in response to pain; eye opening in response to pain; and/or vocal response. A 3 on the scale could be classed as "almost dead", but not an 8.
CHAR: When Joey Smith is being discharged for the first time, Ed Vogler refers to him as "John", not "Joey".
CONT: At the end of the episode when Dr. House is telling Dr. Wilson that he must fire someone from his team, House enter the diagnosis room. The board in the room has some things written on it. In the next shot, the board is clean with no time for House to have cleaned it.
CHAR: When House is viewing the Corvette that has been left in the garage, he describes it as a '65. The indentations behind the front wheels indicated that the Corvette was a 1963 and not a 1965 model. The 1965 had vertical slats behind the front wheels.

TRIVIA

The Chinese medicine that House says Joey had been taking to quit smoking is a cough drop sold widely in Japan.
This is the first episode in which Dr. House wears a lab coat.
