Episode Quotes
 | Season 1 / Episode 1: - Original Unaired Pilot
Claire Bennet: I'm so depressed. Zach: What? What are you talking about? Why? I mean - I mean, besides the fact that it was so gross that I almost fudged myself, this is the single coolest thing to happen to this town, in like, a hundred years! Claire Bennet: Not if nobody finds out, it's not. Zach: Why'd you want me to tape it? Claire Bennet: I have my reasons. Zach: It's not like you're not going to be popular anymore! Claire Bennet: Popular? Who said anything about being popular? My life as I know it is over, okay? I've got the Bishop game next week, SATs in October, Homecoming's in three weeks from today, and I'm a freak show! Zach: You're being a little dramatic, don't you think? Claire Bennet: No! I don't think! I have busted, like, every bone in my body, stabbed myself in the chest, I've shoved a two foot steel rod through my neck, and I don't have a scratch on me! |
 | Season 1 / Episode 1: - Original Unaired Pilot
Micah Sanders: I'm just working on my computer. The logic board was bad. So I had to build a new one. Niki Sanders: A new one. Did anyone ever tell you you're the smartest little man on the planet? Micah Sanders: You do. All the time. |

MISTAKES/GOOFS
- FACT: A solar eclipse is not a global event, and its point in time and duration highly depend on the observer's position on the planet. It is impossible for an eclipse to happen at the same time in New York and Tokyo as depicted.
- CHAR: While sitting in the karaoke bar, Hiro tells his friend that he got his understanding of how time works from X-Men number 143, where Kitty Pryde travels through time. "Days of Future Past", the referenced comic book, was actually X-Men number 141.
- FACT: Several characters are shown looking directly at the sun during a partial eclipse. In reality they would all suffer serious eye damage from doing so. Only Niki, who views the eclipse through a pinhole camera, uses a safe method.
- CONT: In the scene where Mohinder is at his father's apartment and HRG is on the other side, Mohinder picks up his glasses and puts them back down on the right page of the book. When the camera closes back up on the glasses, they are in the middle of the book.
- PLOT: Since Claire Bennet can regenerate from any injury, it seems that the holes for her pierced earrings should close up when she does not have any earrings in. This does not, however, seem to be the case.
TRIVIA
- The paintings Isaac made were created for the show by comic book artist Tim Sale (I). Sale is best known for his collaborations with Jeph Loeb, the writer and executive producer.
- In the original script for Genesis, Hiro was to exclaim "Bonsai!" after discovering his powers. According to a statement by Masi Oka on "The View" (1997), he approached Tim Kring and informed him that "bonsai actually means 'little tree'", and that he probably intended banzai. Because Masi felt that banzai had wartime/old-fashioned connotations, he asked if it would be okay to use the more modern exclamation "Yatta!" instead. Tim Kring gave Masi permission to change the line by replying along the lines of, "Dude, go to town."
- The subway that Hiro is riding in is the Los Angeles Red Line.
- Mohinder (Suresh) was likely named in honor of Mohinder Amarnath Bhardwaj, an international cricket player from India from 1969 to 1989 who made his debut against Australia at Chennai in December, 1969. Chennai is where the Suresh family lives
- In the originally aired version of the pilot, Claire injured her hand badly by putting it into a running sink garbage disposal to retrieve her class ring. However, Emerson (the company which makes the "In Sink Erator" brand disposal which was used in the shot), threatened to sue NBC for airing footage which they claimed "seriously damaged the reputation" of their product. NBC settled out of court, so all future airings of this episode have the "In Sink Erator" brand name removed from the offending shot.
