Peter Petrelli is the younger son of Arthur and Angela Petrelli, and Nathan's brother, and worked as a common hospice nurse caring for Charles Deveaux while living in New York City. Peter appeared to his family as a hopeless dreamer, who believed he had a greater place in life than just saving one life at a time. He discovered he was an evolved human who had the ability to absorb and use the powers of other evolved humans. Peter decided to use his abilities to save the world, and continues to try and be a hero, despite having his powers stolen by his father, who was believed to be dead. However, with the actual death of his father, and his acquisition of a new ability, Peter's future remains uncertain. Currently, Peter is using his ability to save others, and after being consciously made aware of his lost connections on several occasions with his family and friends, is actively making an effort to connect with people again. After being warned by René, Peter finally learns the truth about his brother's death. Peter has done all he can to save Nathan's conscience from Sylar's influence, but after Nathan's decision to surrender Sylar's body back to him, Peter is now grieving over the loss of his brother. He believed that Sylar will be the one to save Emma, and saved him from his own worst nightmare in order to save her. Once making to the Carnival, Peter faced off against Samuel, using his own power against him, and ultimately defeated him and was reunited with a rescued Emma afterwards.
